Barbara I Gongini is a person with strong beliefs. Some year’s ago I had the pleasure interviewing her and getting to know her a little bit. You can tell that she unapologetically creates the clothes she wants to with a fantastic mixture of super-high fashion and a touch of street wear. I know, that’s not easy right? But Barbara impresses me everytime I see her show. I got the feeling that she really shares a piece of herself through her design with customers. Her love for fashion, dark and ashy colors complete the full vision that Barbara establishes every time she’s presenting her new collection. It’s a timeless story of another diverse universe full of a heritage of sensitivty that she combines in her designs.
Do you remember when I first talked to you about communicating gender in one of my previous articles? If you missed it you can just read it right here “Communicating Gender“. After Barbara’s show I just ran into her backstage and we had a beautiful conversation about her perspective to her collection. I told her that I noticed a lot of gender blending aesthetics and she was really happy that I noticed her intentions to just not put gender on a podest, rather than dressing human beings in a way that she perceives as to be beautiful. Take a look!
